Today, the year 8's went to cooking class at Pakuranga Intermediate School.
We made different kinds of breads such as Chelsea buns, Bread rolls, and Maori bread.
It was a experience for us year 8's to learn how to cook.

Chelsea Buns:

  • 2 teaspoons of Edmonds active yeast
  • 3 ½ cups of Edmonds high grade flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 Tablespoon of sugar
  • ¾ cup of warm milk
  • 3 Tablespoons of melted butter
Filling:
  • 50g butter
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

To make chelsea buns you will need to:
  1. Place warm water and first measure of sugar in a small bowl. Stir to dissolve sugar.
  2. Sprinkle yeast over and leave for 10 minutes or until it is frothy
  3. Combine 3 cups of flour, and salt into a large bowl.
Then add in the measured sugar and set the remaining ½ cup of flour to the side.
  1. In the dry ingredients, make a well as you pour in the milk, melted butter, and the frothy yeast mixture.
Mix with a wooden spoon or the back of a cutlery knife until it forms a ball.
  1. Then turn it out into a light floured surface.
You are going to knead the dough until it is smooth and stretchable.
  1. You are then going to stretch it out and brush the melted butter on top.
As you have done that, sprinkle the cinnamon on top.
  1. Now roll the dough that has been sprinkle into little circles. And cut them out.
  2. It is now time to bake it for 25 minutes for 200℃ until it is golden.
Now it's time for you to enjoy.
