How do you simplify 8/6?

Learning Intention: We are learning to develop our understanding of fractions.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I explain that simplifying fraction is when we divide the numerator and the denominator by their common factors to end up with a smaller fraction.

Remember, don't change the denominator when you are subtracting fractions!

Learning Intention: We are learning to develop our understanding of fractions.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write the steps for subtracting fractions.

Solving Maths Problem's (Segments)

L.I- WALT find simple fractions of shapes and lengths.

Problem: Mum bought these lolly snakes. She shared each one equally among her five children.

How many segments did each get?

I know the answer is 20 because......

One fifth of 100 = 20, I know the answer is 100 because 20 + 20 = 40 and another 20 + 20 = 40, so 40 + 40 = 80, and 80 + 20 = 100, another way is 100 divided by 5 = 20 and 5 x 20 =100

Snail Array

Today I was given an array of snails to count. I used Move note to record myself counting the array of snails. The answer was 20. I had to explain how I knew the answer. This is my strategy, 5 + 5 = 10 and another 5 + 5 = 10 so 10 + 10 = 20.

Pattern 3

Today I have learned how to use Google Drawing to make a three repeated patterns. My shapes are triangle, circle and square. The colours I used were Yellow,Green and Red. I tried to make it of the same size. On odd lines I used the pattern Yellow,Green and Red. On even lines I started my pattern using Yellow,Green and Red.
WALT.... make a Pattern using different shape's.
